DUPLICATION QUESTIONS |
How many DVD copies can you do?
We specialize in small orders of 1–100
discs. However, we can accept larger orders if needed.
Please discuss the quantity you need with us. |
| |
Can you copy DVD discs that I made on my home DVD recorder?
Yes. It will be an exact copy of your original. And
we can take the DVD disc you made and add beautiful
artwork and a real DVD case to it as well. |
| |
Can you duplicate DVDs of movies that I bought?
No. Timeless DVD cannot duplicate materials protected under US Copyright Law, which includes store-bought DVDs. |
| |
Is there a quality loss when copies are made?
No. The exact data on your original disc is copied bit-for-bit
to new discs. Quality loss is impossible. Remember,
this process is not like dubbing one tape to another,
which always entails a quality loss. All of the information
on a DVD is digital and so it can be copied exactly
to new discs. |
| |
What type of discs are used?
We only use top-quality Taiyo Yuden DVD-R media for our
DVD copying services. In addition, we specifically
use WaterShield discs, which are water-resistant
and scratch-resistant, and feature a stunning glossy
finish that cannot be smudged. You also have the
alternate choice of high-quality traditional matte
finish discs. For compatibility, we
can use DVD+R discs if needed. We special-order all
our discs from professional suppliers and do not
use consumer-grade media, such as you would buy at
local office or electronics stores. |
| |
Can I provide my own discs?
No. We cannot print either basic text or full-color graphics on anything other than the discs we stock, nor guarantee correct authoring and longevity. |
| |
What type of cases are available?
We offer a wide variety of professional-grade DVD cases for your project. We provide standard-size DVD cases in black, white, clear, and 10 colors of the rainbow. In addition, we can provide slimline cases, which are about half as thick as a traditional DVD case, in black, white, and clear. For an additional fee, we also offer multiple DVD cases, which can hold anywhere from 3 to 10 discs in a single convenient case (black and clear only). |
| |
Can I put a photo on the disc or cover?
Yes. Please select Option C or D, which includes color printing. We can either scan the original art on your master DVD, or, for an additional fee, you may add one of our Themes, which can be combined with a photo of your choice. |
| |
Can I use a Timeless DVD Theme for my design?
Yes. For Options C or D (color printing), you may select a Theme. Adding a Theme is only $10 for Option C and $20 for Option D. |
| |
I designed my own disc and case at home. Can we put my artwork on the DVD copies?
Yes. For options C and D, scanning of your artwork
printed on your master DVD is included. Alternatively,
we can also accept electronic files of your art,
although to avoid extensive artwork instructions,
we prefer to coordinate this on a case-by-case
basis. Simply include an artwork disc with your
files and we'll take it from there. |
| |
Are menus included?
No. Your DVD disc is copied exactly as it is now. To
add menus, we would have to extract the video from
your DVD and reauthor the disc. This would entail
an additional fee. |
| |
Can Timeless DVD put menus on my DVD?
Yes, we can, for an additional fee. Please contact
us with your request prior to project submission. |

OTHER QUESTIONS |
What is the turnaround time?
Normal turnaround time for DVD Disc Duplication
is 1–2 weeks for most short-run orders (less than
100 discs). Original graphic design or larger
duplication orders may require over 2 weeks. Furthermore,
turnaround time depends on the complexity of your order,
our current workload, and the time of the year (we are
busier in May/June for weddings and graduations, and
November/December for the holidays).
|
| |
Do you do rush orders for DVD duplication?
We offer rush services with conditions and additional
fees. We
require this because our production schedule must
be rearranged in order to accommodate a rush order.
A duplication order due within 1 week or less is
a rush order. An order of 100 disc
copies or fewer can be completed within 1 week
for a 20% rush fee in addition to the total cost.
For more complex projects,
please contact us with your needs and we will advise
you as to what timeframe is possible. Please
note that our capacity to accept rush orders always
depends on our current workload of project commitments
to existing customers. |

Why should I choose Timeless DVD for DVD copying services?
If you are an individual with only a few copies to
make, then Timeless DVD is the best choice for
duplication. We handle every project on an individual
basis, offering a level of quality control throughout
the duplication process that larger companies can't
match. This includes running every disc through
a verification process, which ensures that the
data on the disc was copied correctly.
In addition, we offer a wide array of packaging
options for your copies. We can make a simple copy
of a labeled disc in a paper sleeve or provide
full-color packaging with customized graphic design.
We offer a complete selection of professional DVD
cases, including black, white, clear, slimline,
and many different colors. And don't forget, we
only use high-quality discs, including both traditional
matte and glossy WaterShield discs,
which are water- and scratch-resistant.
Of course, there are additional reasons to work with
Timeless DVD, such as the fact that we do all our work
on premises in our studio (your project is never outsourced);
the availability of our Sample
Disc; and our great personal service. You can read
more about the reasons to choose Timeless DVD for your
project on our 10 Great Reasons page. |

How do I ship my original DVD safely?
We advise using two safeguards: padded, study packaging
and trackable carriers. We recommend first placing
your disc in a Ziploc plastic bag to seal out
moisture. Then, put it into a padded CD/DVD mailing
envelope (available at office supply stores), or
surround the disc with sturdy cardboard. Finally,
pack it in a sturdy or padded envelope or box.
All of these steps add an extra buffer of protection.
Secondly, we strongly recommend sending your package via a trackable shipping carrier such as UPS, FedEx, or USPS with tracking service. We have never lost a package this way!
As a final step of protection, the order address indicated on our order forms is for our private mailbox. The mailbox is located in a temperature-controlled facility where it can be signed for. That means you can require signature confirmation if you wish, and your package is never sitting outside in cold or hot temperatures. This is an extra measure of service we offer to protect your valuable materials. |
| |
Will I
get my original DVD back?
Absolutely! Any materials you send to us will
be carefully handled throughout the production
process and returned to you with your finished
DVD. We do not keep or discard any of our clients'
possessions, and everything is handled with the
greatest care at all times. |
| |
Do you watch the video as you copy DVD discs?
No. The duplication process is entirely automated.
The data on your original DVD is simply copied
over to new discs. We do not see any of the video
at all. |
| |
Can you do video duplication for tapes?
Yes, we can duplicate videotapes of all kinds, from
VHS to MiniDV. That service is not included in
our main options because we are primarily a DVD
company, and honestly, we have few requests these
days for videotape copies. Packaging options vary
from format to format, and keep in mind that unlike
DVDs, there is always a quality loss when dubbing
copies of videotapes. Please let us know what work
you need and we will provide a custom quote for
you. |
| |
What's the difference between duplication and replication?
Duplication and replication are the two methods for making DVD copies. They are different in two ways: the copying process and the quantity of discs each is suited for.
Duplication is the appropriate copy solution for
making small quantities of DVDs, generally up to
a few hundred copies. It uses lasers to burn information
onto the dye inside a DVD, and is affordable and
convenient. Timeless DVD only provides duplicated
DVDs.
Replication is the copying process for reproducing
large quantities of DVDs. It has a far more complex
process than duplication. First, a glass master is
made from the original master DVD disc. Stampers
are then created from the glass master. The stampers
are used to press the discs with injection molding
made of raw polycarbonate plastic. Replication facilities
usually require at least 500–1,000 copies to be made
of the DVD, due to the complexity of the setup. Therefore,
replication is primarily used for commercial DVDs.
