Next, you will need a video projector
to to connect to the DVD player and project the picture.
Projectors range in price from $500 to $1500, so we do not
advise purchasing a projector just for your event! Many camera
and A/V companies rent projectors, and your event's
facility may offer a projector as well for your digital slideshow.
The brighter the room, the higher
the level of "lumens" a projector should have. However,
remember that the lights in a banquet room can often be dimmed
or turned off completely, which is the best solution for room brightness.
Consult with your facility about how the light in the room
should be handled. Also, look for a projector with a high contrast
ratio, which will provide better quality video.
After the projector, you need a large projection screen for the
image. Before renting a screen, examine your event's
facility. Is there a large white wall near where your guests will
be seated? If so, that may be acceptable and save you the effort
of coordinating a screen. But if the wall is in an awkward position
for guests or adorned with pictures, a screen is the way to go.
An 8–10
foot screen works fine for most photo slideshows.
Another measure: screen height should be equal to 1/6 the distance
from the screen to the last row of seats. This enables the furthest
people to be able to read text in the photo
show. The first row
of seats should be approximately 2 screen heights away, and the
bottom of the screen should be at least 4 feet above the floor.
A/V and party supply companies offer screen rental.
Your facility may also be able to provide you with a screen they
use for photomontages, especially if they handle corporate events. |
