A reception video or slideshow
presentation has become an increasingly popular presentation
for wedding festivities. In fact, it's rare these days to go
to a wedding that does not have one! Parents order reception
videos for engaged children, soon-to-be-newlyweds order them
as part of every "to-do" list,
and wedding parties choose to coordinate them as group gifts.
They are so popular that soon, not having a photo album slideshow
at a reception will be equal to not having a photographer!
Why are they so popular and entertaining? Because every couple
has a story to tell. A reception or rehearsal dinner slideshow
can be an extremely poignant glimpse into the bride and groom's
childhoods, teenage years, and first meeting and dates. A picture
slideshow with music tells, in audio-visual detail, how the
couple fell in love and decided to combine their lives.
Often, couples will show a slideshow during the reception while
guests are enjoying cocktails or waiting for dinner. This alleviates
the stress of making small talk and provides tons of conversation
opportunities. ("By the way, I'm Jennifer's cousin – that's me
in that photo!") Wedding slideshows are created to entertain
all guests and are fantastic icebreakers.
The montage can also be displayed on a small
television next to the guest book, and run on a loop so it plays
continuously. It can even be played without music or sound. This
provides guests and onlookers with a continuous flow of pictures
to peruse.
When done properly, a wedding reception video captures the essence
of the engaged couple and their circle of family and friends.
A great slideshow can be the hit of the wedding reception and
be the talk of your guests for years. (And don't forget to transfer
VHS to DVD of your aging wedding video tape too!)
