VIDEO HISTORY

Every group starts somewhere. Your rotary club have begun with a group of local businessmen in the 1920s. That nonprofit may have begun with a disease that afflicted a certain woman. The church down the street may date back to the 18th century. All of these groups have a story to tell.

A history slide show is the ideal way to convey a group's history, in a creative and entertaining fashion. The slideshow excerpted here was commissioned by a college choir to celebrate its 60th year. It was a huge undertaking that involved many alumni, and the work took over six months of effort.

This show was presented by Timeless DVD as a formal banquet video. The full production runs 40 minutes, with 455 photos, 31 songs (both choir and pop), and 90 video clips. This excerpt is selected from the program's opening sequence, and combines an opening montage with the origins of the college as a four-year school.

History Slide Show - and tribute DVDs

A video history presentation is often shown by organizations to celebrate their backgrounds at banquets or as fundraisers. These groups can include colleges, Historical Societies, churches, community clubs and service organizations, nonprofits, and more.

Knowing our history creates a better understanding of our present. For as long as humans have lived in communities, we have created records of our experiences, from cave drawings to the current multimedia technologies. Today, we can create a record that is dynamic, vital, and beautiful. Your organization can benefit from marking its history in many ways.

For example, a large church on Philadelphia's Main Line recently asked Timeless DVD to put together a history slideshow to celebrate its 125th anniversary. The church formed a wonderful group of volunteers, who had a terrific time going through the old photos and researching the history. The result was a photo history video that was presented at a congregational banquet and will no doubt be viewed for years to come. They even sold copies as a fundraiser!

Speaking of fundraisers, history videos are a great way to raise money. If you're running a nonprofit, consider a DVD video album showing what your organization has done over the past year or years. Gather together photos and video of your work and combine them to show prospective donators what your organization is doing. If a picture is worth a thousand words, imagine what moving pictures and video are worth!
