The right music in your video DVD transfer sets
the mood, holds the audience's attention, and produces laughter
and tears.
If you are adding music to silent reel-to-reel film footage,
start with songs that are meaningful to the people who are in
the film. For video of aunt Carol's 1962 wedding, what were her
favorite songs? What song did she and her husband dance to at
their reception? These details are key to a memorable show.
A second method is to choose music that matches the film's time
periods. For example, for film shot in the 1940s, look into swing
and big band music. For 1960s film, a range of popular rock music
exists.
At right is a sample of film from 1939 that was first transferred
to tape, then combined with a customer's music on a DVD. The
songs are edited to fit the length of the video, and the results
are very moving and personal.
For more information on choosing music for your video tapes
transfer, see our Picture
Slideshows music FAQ.
There are two ways for us to set music to your film. First,
you can specify songs to go with individual sections. For example,
let's say your video has three main sections of film. You could
specify songs to go with each section, and we will custom-edit
them to fit:
1. Trip to beach: "Under the Boardwalk"
2. Carol's wedding: "My Special Angel"
3. Vacation out west: "Route 66" and "Over the
Rainbow"
The second option is for you to just give us a list of replacement
songs that you want in the video. This works best if you're not
interested in matching a specific song to a specific section.
In this case, we will simply run the songs in order and make
minor edits to fit the flow of the film. |
